I’m not even going to pretend this is a tasty smoothie, because it really isn’t. I pack so much healthy stuff into this drink, that depending on your palette, you may have to plug your nose to drink it. BUT, it is loaded with so many things that are incredibly good for you, I’ve honestly started craving it, but I do sell it to my husband as a gross smoothie which helps set expectations before he takes a sip.

I like to enjoy this smoothie not everyday, because it honestly takes some gumption to make and drink it, but typically when I feel like I haven’t been eating enough veggies, or have had a day of bingeing on junk food, fast food, or just general less nutritious food.

Ok, so I’m sure I haven’t already convinced you to try this, unless you are the 1% of people (like me) who don’t care what it tastes like, so long as it’s healthy and provides lots of nutrients. But, I’m going to continue anyways, just incase you care to try it.

Yup, it’s pretty much the same colour as grass. It kind of tastes like it too in all honesty.

Ingredients:

1/2 a frozen banana or apple for added sweetness (can also use frozen berries instead) – omit the fruit for added swamp flavour
1 cup parsley
2 stalks celery
1″ nub of peeled ginger root
2 cups of packed kale or spinach (or as much as you can take)
1 scoop collagen powder* or any other protein powder
2 tbsp fish oil
1 tbsp greens powder*
1 tbsp mushroom powder*
Enough water for desired consistency
*see image below for brands I use and stand behind.

My favourite powders.

Directions

Add all ingredients to a high powered blender (like a Vitamix), add more water if needed. If you don’t have a high powered blender, good luck, it will most likely be quite chewy and even grosser than a smooth, well-blended concoction. Another pro tip is to add some frozen fruit or ice…the room temperature variety is much grosser.

Good luck
