WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REGISTERED HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST (RHN) AND A REGISTERED DIETITIAN (RD)?

A Registered Holistic Nutritionist (or Certified Nutritional Consultant) has earned a diploma from a college recognized by the National Association of Nutritional Professionals (NANP), International Organization of Nutritional Consultants (IONC), and the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners (NANP). Practitioners must adhere to a Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice, remain in good standing with CSNNAA and carry liability insurance. Registered Dieticians are government regulated, having obtained a university degree with clinical training. Dieticians follow diet protocols recommended by their governing body, while RHNs use a personalized and holistic approach to improve overall health, wellness and encourage disease prevention. With whole foods at the core, recommendations from an RHN can also include supplements and lifestyle modifications.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY SESSIONS?

An online intake form and food journal will be sent to you via email and should be completed 24 hours before your first appointment. The secure form is a profile of your current health, diet and lifestyle. The initial consultation is an in-depth review of your profile, allowing your personalized recommendations to take shape. Subsequent follow up coaching sessions will provide you with guidance, information, and ongoing support to help you achieve your nutrition and wellness goals.

DO HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS COVER YOUR SERVICES?

Some – but not all – health insurance providers cover Registered or Certified Holistic Nutritionists under extended or wellness benefit plans. Some employers offer alternative health benefits as an add-on option to their packages. Contact your employer or insurance provider for more information. Receipts are provided.

I DON’T WANT TO GIVE UP (INSERT FAVOURITE FOOD HERE)!

Restricting certain foods (i.e. dairy, gluten, caffeine) can be of great benefit to some, but certainly not for everyone. The role of an RHN is to shape and encourage the best possible diet for each individual client. Your dietary needs, allergies, preferences, lifestyle, culture and wellness goals are given the highest priority.

DO YOU DO IN-PERSON APPOINTMENTS, OR ARE THEY ALL ONLINE?

All of the seesions with Full Bloom Health are via secure, online meetings. I can gather all the necassary information to properly create a protocol through online communication (video calls, phone calls, emails, videos). You may even find that you prefer this method, as you can avoid havng to leave your home and travel to a clinic. In the future, Full Bloom Health may offer in-person appointments, but for now, during the time of the Pandemic (2020/2021), online is the best option for all parties.

WHY DO YOU ONLY OFFER MONTHLY COACHING?

My goal as a Holistic Nutritionist, is to see my clients thrive and make the necessary changes needed in their lives to do so. In the typical model of booking sessions 1 hour at a time, it is very hard to stay on track and to get the motivation needed to make true, lasting changes. By offering a monthly coaching plan, I can be a constant source of information, accountability and support for you. With the monthly video chats and weekly email check-ins, you will continuously be reminded of baby steps you need to take to work towards your goal and lasting change. As the client, you can cancel at any time (must give 48 hrs notice prior to billing), once you feel like you have learned enough and have your new practices in place, and are ready to go off on your own, this is the ultimate goal!

If you would truly prefer to do one-off sessions, please contact me in the question box below and we can chat about your goals.
